  1. This game convinced me to upload my visual novel framework when its done.

    As someone who is creating a visual novel game not made with Ren’Py myself, i can appreciate the skills needed to make this, in Ren’Py a lot of things are already added for you like a save and load system and settings, player input , etc.

    But this is what i don’t understand, making a save and load system that handles hundreds of save slots dynamically and scalable, meaning not having hard coded every slot and if you change one thing you break all the rest, making some slots for auto saves and a function to load the last saved game so you can have a continue button to start playing from the last saved game, i found this the the most difficult part of making a visual novel framework as a beginner.

    And then you have devs that don’t take the time to do simple things like binding the escape key to do something, or having multiple keys for the same function, or doing some UI design to make it look like its not made on a phone.
    All simple things that can be done in minutes, why not take 15 minutes to do the little things instead of making a backlog/ history feature for a 15 minute game. This is the first update so all those little things may be improved, but you see this in Unity games that had several updates already.

    And things like this is actually not only for other game engines, in some Ren’Py games, devs don’t implement simple things
    while a lot is already done for you, and because it is used for most visual novel games and exist for almost 20 years now, to add a feature you can probably find a lot of guides on how to do it.

    When someone decides to make a visual novel game, programming is most likely one of the last reasons that drew you into it.
    That’s why i am going to upload my framework when it is ready, because making the story in my framework does not require you to code and a lot of quality of life settings or a menu for gallery& replay will be added in by default.
    So we can have devs that can focus on making a good story or make a lot of hot Waifus or some good animations.
