Story - The narrative of *Slave* feels like a thin veil stretched over a series of tedious mini-games. The storytelling has been lackluster, failing to engender any emotional connection to the characters. The dialogue and plot seem to cater to a feminine perspective—thus creating a disconnect with the male protagonist and leaving players scratching their heads. - 41%
Visual - One area where *Slave* shines is its art style. The graphics are polished, sleek, and visually appealing, with lots of glittery embellishments that could charm even the most discerning eye. However, the uncanny valley effect created by the animation (particularly that Spine2D “slow waving”) turns every character into a dead-eyed mannequin, floating through their interactions. - 66%
Engagement - Engagement levels in *Slave* may well be dictated by how much patience one has for repetitive mini-games. With the vast majority of gameplay revolving around tedious tasks and a grinding skill tree, the fun factor quickly evaporates, leaving players frustrated rather than enthralled. The absence of real choice or consequence in character interactions turns the experience into a slog—a chore. - 22%
Core Loop - Unfortunately, what should be a delightful cycle of exploration, character interaction, and reward feels like an exasperating march through a maze of half-baked mechanics. The core loop—complete mini-games to progress and unlock (non-repeatable) scenes—results in a cycle that feels endlessly monotonous. - 30%
