That said, I did reinstate mod behavior to allow you to close the screens if open with the key if possible.
TLDR :I don’t overwrite files, and I essentially prevent you from saving at an unsafe location. (which only happens if you’re in the middle of a chained scene sequence – RARE)
For those that don’t know, there’s several methods to make mods. Most take the route of overwriting core files this is bad for several reasons, others may be a little more clever but have custom stuff labels and such all over the place and just let you save willy nilly and then if you play unmodded boom everything exploded because that label doesnt exist etc.
What i’m doing isnt rocket science, as you enter into my own label (rare) i block saves, the labels i create are merely to chain renpy.replays together a replay prevents you from saving anyway, all im doing is making sure that no save is made at a location that doesnt exist in the stalk game.
This mod mainly consists of screens and python blocks, could you bork a save? Nothing is impossible lol but I’ve tried to make that difficult provided your not playing around in console or code
- Updates – This will need to be updated for the walkthrough checks and if we need to chain more scenes. If I’m active I’ll update, if however you see I havent logged in for >30days then prob life threw a curveball ’tis a community mod then have at errr.
- PAUSE TIME – This is great for do a speed rerun or something, probably don’t want to abuse this if you’re a first time player as narrative can break down. This more of a caution to not abuse if you care about a more natural story arc as you have different event spread across time with same characters so hammering out all available in the same time session you may see what appears to be unnatural progression because you might have, more naturally, progressed relationship through other events at different times. Ya feel?
Should go without saying, but uhmm I primarily made this mod for me. I was sorta silly when I started assuming it was a vn lol though kinda wish it was as that prologue was superb and I find the narrative elements get detached in sandbox (I digress). Anyways, I then started modding like a loser vn player and was injecting choice oh do all avail scenes here, so that way didnt have to wait or rollback.. then one day I was sober and saw the light and was like damn I could just pause the time duhhhh. I’ve still left some of the injected choices that i thought made sense to me. I may add more idk. Full disclosure I haven’t 100%’d the game yet, I’m releasing know cause I know a busy time is up ahead and so fuck it. I’m the type that has 1000 projects running at any given time so best do it while I think about it and this really should be serviceable. Cigarex is either the writer or user of great code so was fairly simple to do. (Honestly it probably took me longer doing style shit for the prefs menu and figuring out alignment bs that the actual code smdh. Prob a lie, I might have spent most of the time in renpy docs fr)
