If you want a bit of a start then you should go and find the two purses that have money in them. Then you go to the shop and buy the ax. After that you do the chopping game. That will give you several hundred coins and you should be able to pay off the lady outside the inn as well as buy the amulet and get the elf lady and seduce the two elves as well as the dryad hiding behind the tree for extra experience. After that have the girls work at the inn while you chop wood to earn extra money each week.
