Eh, I don’t get the fascination with modern royals, but for fantasy or historical fiction it’s quite easy to trick yourself into believing the old tales of noblesse oblige. But to be completely honest, it’s not like the world order has changed much, just take a look at the modern day minor landholder and poverty classes; they still love the nouveau riche and oligarchs of the world.
At the end of the day, it’s just power fantasy; whether the story is about a prince, outlaw, or tech bro genius. Anyway, haven’t tried the game yet, just posting my thoughts on your statement.

What’s worse are the people who project themselves as if they’ll ever be one of these things. It’s fine in video games, but then people are like, “Oh this royalty is going to make my life better!” Like someone who’s never had to work a real job a day in their life is going to have any sympathy for you. Well, what’s interesting about this game is that is written by a Russian set in a fantastical version of the Rus principality period. They literally live under an oligarchy. The game goes into themes about monarchies and republics, and even cultural erasure and assimilation using fantasy races in the place of Finn-Ugric and other various peoples.
Not too heavy handed for the average person to be bothered by it, but a very marked improvement from Lazy Monkey in terms of trying to tell an actual story. Actually quite impressed by this game. Character writing still a bit samey and I feel things sometimes get lost in the translation, but nonetheless one of the better fantasy AVN I’ve played. Smart use of generative AI as well and not used as a complete crutch.
I suggest playing through a couple of times if you do. I’m not sure if there are many other story paths in the game, but I liked the green and white paths so far.
