Finding Color in the Ashes is a fantasy dating sim where you rebuild an inn and hang out with a witch named Lucy.
It’s a mostly cozy management game where you slowly rebuild a ruined inn, choosing how you spend you time. The day is divided up into mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights – and weekends have their own events as well.
You also need to keep the surrounding area clear of monsters, equipping yourself with weapons and spells and engaging in turn based dice-combat. There are a variety of weapons, armors, and spells to buy, learn, and upgrade.
The Game takes place over a year, and starts in the summer. Each season is about 90 days long, and has its own gameplay associated with it.

- At the end of each round, you gain 1 companion action point.
- At the start of each round, you can spend companion action points on instant abilities. These do not eat your turn.

- Scout has 1 new skill: Rally
- Scout’s skills (and spells) are listed in the spellbook now.

- Some missing tooltips
Adjustments
- Shield + Lucy’s shield now cost resources (mana / fracture) at even their base level
- Spellbook now has multiple pages (one for player, one for companions)
- Scout’s spells are listed in the spellbook
- Outpost levels 3 and 4 are locked behind Ailis’ skill tree (you won’t lose upgrades you already bought though)
- The option to restore the inn on weekends disappears from the menu after restorations are complete
- The base cost of companion skills is applied before picking dice, not when confirming casting (should make costs easier to understand)
- Companions skills/spells have been rebalanced
- Seasonal color changes for Willow
Fixes
- Outpost supplies don’t get used on the first day of adventurer jobs
- Cancelling dice on lucy’s spells was breaking her crits
- Possible to go into negative gold buying loot from adventurers after they returned from a job
- Scout teleporting you out of a fight would cost Lucy Fracture
- Road danger was syncing immediately after patrols, causing an early game delay on quest completion
- Haste potions weren’t applying properly to agility weapons
- Scout’s Feed skill could increase her blood pool beyond its maximum
- Some morning events weren’t killing the morning action menu properly
- Cancelling dice on lucy’s spells refunds the correct amount of fracture now
- Dwarves weren’t showing up to sell their ores
- Morning option to hang out with companions wouldn’t show up unless Ellie was hired
- Patrolling costing more stamina than intended
