This is one of the best AVN, I don’t know why it has such a low rating, it is a gem, good story, deep characters, interesting progress, good lewd scenes, pretty girls, symbolism, psyche of the characters
I recommend playing it without a walkthrough because it is more than evident that it is made to be played like this, plus you will not be able to unlock all the scenes even if you get all the girls, so it is better that you make the decisions without thinking that you are playing a porn game. Just keep in mind that only 4 girls can be your main girl and you will have to choose one of them. If you play following the walkthrought trying to get all the good points possible, the story will always take you to the end of Carol. The game also has replayability. It doesn’t add much content but if you are interested in the story, at least when you play it again you won’t read the same dialogues, your decisions affect the characters more than the story and that’s how a AVN is done without complicating the Dev’s life too much.

Exactly this is the best game of this genre I’ve ever played. Not the best graphics though. But I’ve played it again for a few times. First one was with a full text reading, next ones with a different choices and the most text skipped. 10/10
I have no faith in the ratings on this site. 76% overall? Story 78%?? Really? This is one of the best AVNs I’ve every seen. Only the face rendering brings it down a bit. Then you get a game like Betrayed that’s ranked at 96% but is a completely average and boring game. I’m going to have to use the Most Viewed and Trending lists because the Top Games list is skewed.

A lot of effort has been put into this one, and it shows. Everything is tastefully done. The pictures especially are detailed and beautiful. The story has been painstakingly crafted to become believable, within the parameters that the writer takes for granted. These parameters do include current ideological fictions however, which for example result in having the mc treat every kid or teenager as if they were naturally prone to break with every adversity; there is too much concern, at least in the first part, about the possibility of psychological trauma for the girls that the mc is looking after. At the same time the infected people are named as “it” to be put down as if they were vermin or something. But I’ll stop here, rather than pick out each and every detail where the story fails to be true to human nature. Suffice it to say that to a great extent it does, especially in the first part, i.e. until the mc’s party leaves the city.
The mc is much too concerned with the possibility of not doing everything right, which seriously spoils the fun of the player’s. The general mentality of the mc’s and his constant effort for the feelings of others and disregard for what he himself might want, create a suffocating atmosphere for the player.
The girls are beautiful and distinct, each with her own beauty and character.
The sex scenes are beautiful too, and the animations are well made. However the sex scenes are somehow all alike, and perhaps too vanilla. Although there are quite a lot of them, the game is much more focused on what happens in between, which can detract from the player’s horniness.
One thing that I found especially peculiar was that it was always tête-à-tête, i.e. there is practically no group interaction. Instead it is constantly about the mc doing something by himself, especially looking around for possible threats, alone, and then finding one girl only to interact and have long conversations with. This, despite the fact that a group is established quite early, of the mc living together with the girls. Also, there is hardly any touching, or hugging, or kissing, in just meeting or greeting the girls, who have already established a loving sexual relationship with the mc.
On the whole this is a very good piece of work, if one likes to focus on the story, and the atmosphere that a game creates. Especially the part after leaving the city. It would have been much better, if the dev were less concerned with what may be considered proper, and more with how actual people behave.
It was a great story I would give it an 8.5/10. Graphics are not that good though, music is passable, personally I enjoy more when there are some mini-games here an there, but everything else is awsome. I think, maybe, this game has the best closure I’ve seen in an AVN (which is the most difficult thing to do IMO, I don’t recall any other AVN being this satisfactory (perhaps Sisteryly Lust if you get everyone pregnant hahah), or maybe it was just the path I took). It is a must try if you care more for the story or if you like the zombie apocalyse theme. I could compare this to “I walk among zombies” which IMO has a litle bit more interesting plot, but, overall this AVN is better.
I am not into asian characters’ style and I have not appreciated graphics very much however they are still enjoyable. Choices and paths are very limited, you can’r really influence the story. Narration is too long, too much to read and most of the time flashbacks are useless. My evaluation of Now&Then as a game is barely sufficient. On the other side it has one of the best narration in the entire VN world, it seems to read a romantic adventure, very well written. Probably with a shorter story, better graphics and more paths to follow, this would be a masterpiece. If you like rich stories and you have time to read a lot, this game is for you. My evaluation is 4,5 on 5.

Certainly among the best, because we have a complete story with several possible endings.
Everything seem coherent, if reading is not a problem for you you will appreciate a good characters development and their feelings,written In a mature and interesting way until the end, small twists and turns that keep the desire to continue, a few notes of humor and well placed pop culture ref make everything interesting.
Everything is not perfect unfortunately, nothing annoying just a few little concerns, maybe the translation (English not being my mother tongue I am poorly placed to judge)
But some sentence here and there which sometimes requires concentrating to grasp the full meaning.
The most disturbing for me being in Lewd scenes where the level of writing is much lower than the rest of the story,
An approach with more eroticism and feelings of the characters would have been welcome, instead we have the same approach as in a large number of VNs where the characters comment on their actions some dialogues lack a more mature approach , the level of maturity of the rest of the story would have deserved the same approach on these scenes, as if another person had written these parts, don’t worry it remains passable overall.
The visuals are more than correct and the models (Honey Select) are ok+ and unique with nice body proportions
The animations are generally rather or even very good overall.

I have not much to add to the above review but a simple affirmation of the things mentioned above. Though I had not the same probs with language as the reviewer. English is also not my first language but I had no hic-ups while reading. Or at least I’ve read worse, try machine translations (MTL) of chinese novels for example LMAO
The theme of this story is not something I’m a big fan of, no its more like I’m very picky when it comes to distopian (post) apocalypse stories. I think that instead of using zombies, the infected are a more realistic view of the zombie apocalypse and it reminded me of something in the game Plague Inc. In that game you had a virus you could develop that played with the serotonin in the brain of the host to make the host more volatile or lustful, for extra transmission/casualties.
Coming back to the review;
Indeed the lewd scenes are of lower quality than the rest of the story, its good the first couple scenes but after a while they become repetitive and most of the time they say the same stuff and the oohs and aahs.

Yeah I’ve played Leap of Faith too, and I must say that’s also a very good read. Though I must say that Leap of Faith is a more heavy, sad and bittersweet story. This story has also some dark themes like mentions of rape, canibalism etc. but the writing was not too graphic about it so the shock level was kept at a minimum. Leap of Faith however, deals with a subject that I’ve lived through, multiple times, so that story hit more close at home than this story will. And the deaths in zombie stories are such common place that I’ve become desensitized to it, somewhat expecting it.
